Wingra Family Medical Center
At all of our clinics, Access Community Health Centers has a standard of care where families and individual patients can establish long-term relationships with their health care professionals. These relationships improve our patients’ health and lives.
Medical Services
Prenatal Care
Prenatal Services at Access Community Health Centers’ Wingra Family Medical Center are provided by Board Certified Family Practice Physicians who are faculty members with the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. Our services have an emphasis on health promotion, education and disease prevention. Our providers offer individualized care for women throughout pregnancy, labor, childbirth and postpartum. Delivery services are provided at St. Mary’s Hospital and Meriter Hospital.
We understand that this time of joy also comes with some apprehension and many questions. That is why we offer our Childbirth and Breastfeeding Classes in cooperation with Public Health of Madison and Dane County. Classes are free and open to anyone who wants to know more about becoming a parent.
These classes are designed to meet the individual needs of our patients. They answer questions about pregnancy, childbirth, parenting and breastfeeding. Childbirth classes are offered at Access’ South Side Clinic and William T. Evjue Clinics and breastfeeding classes are offered at Public Health of Dane County’s East Washington and South Park Street locations.
Pediatric Care and Adolescent Care
For the children we serve, our care promotes optimal wellness from birth to 18 years of age. Our services include health maintenance visits, sports and school physicals, patient education and care of sick children. We offer same day visits for acutely ill children.
Our Adolescent Health Services provides primary health care and dental care to teens and their families. We provide resources that adolescents need to make choices that keep them healthy. We have staff that specializes in understanding the issues that teens and their families can face. An initiative of Access Community Health Centers, our adolescent health services brings together resources from the University of Wisconsin Department of Pediatrics, Madison Metropolitan School District and many other community resources. It was initially supported through a grant from the Wisconsin Partnership Fund for a Healthy Future.
Adult Care
Our medical staff partners with our patients to prevent illness. We believe that adults must receive the proper preventative health screening and treatments to help them stay healthy. This practice allows for early diagnosis and treatment of any health problems. Our staff work with other community health care providers to assure a continuum of health care services for patients and our physicians are able to admit patients to University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics and to St. Mary’s Hospital.
Chronic Disease Care
Chronic disease care at Access Community Health Centers is designed to improve the health of our patients that suffer from long-term, ongoing illnesses. Our staff is dedicated to empowering patients with information and knowledge of their choices. Our clinical care utilizes the latest evidence-based practices. Our staff works with other community health care providers to assure a continuum of health care services for patients and physicians are able to admit patients to University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics and to St. Mary’s Hospital.
Our Medical Providers
Behavioral Health Services
Wingra Family Medical Center will expand its Behavioral Health Services. In January 2010, same-day consultation will be available to patients that will enable patients and staff to address both medical and related behavioral issues quickly and efficiently. The service aims to provide immediate assistance to both patients and their primary care providers on health issues such as depression and anxiety, and behavior change issues such as weight loss, troubleshooting problems with diet or exercise initiation, smoke cessation, or the many other life changes that can be difficult to make.
